About Us

Guinn Accountants is a chartered accounting practice that has been operating in Papua New Guinea for over forty (40) years. The Firm offers a full range of assurance, advisory, accounting and consulting services to clients across a wide range of industries and business growth phases. The quality of service delivery is assured through both active and ongoing staff training as well as incorporating best practice techniques and methodologies.

We bring to our clients the skills base and standards from previous international accounting firm affiliations, tempered with the sound knowledge, experience and personalised service from having lived and worked in PNG for more than forty (40) years.

Guinn Accountants is a wholly-Papua New Guinean owned firm.

Our History

The Firm has been operating for more than forty (40) years in Papua New Guinea, and for the last ten (10) and fifteen (15) of those, as a member of BDO International (2014 to 2025) and PKF International (1998 to 2014), respectively.

From humble beginnings, the Firm was founded in 1983 by David Guinn in Mt. Hagen as “David G Guinn Chartered Accountant”. In 1990 the Firm changed its name to DG Guinn & Co. Eight years later in 1998, the Firm joined the PKF international network thereby changing its trading name to “Guinn PKF”. In 2000, the Firm opened its Port Moresby office located at MMI Building, downtown. The office moved to the Bernal Street address in 2005 and with the significant growth in the NCD, it was decided to focus on the Moresby office, with the Mt Hagen office eventually closing in 2011. On 1st October 2014, the firm joined BDO International accounting network.

On 01 April 2025, the Firm migrated out from BDO network and changed its trading name to Guinn Accountants.

Guinn Accountants in the Community

Guinn Accountants has placed particular focus on community service, believing that a contribution to such issues is an integral element of being part of society.

The Principal of the Firm has been a driving force for health reform in PNG, involved in the conceptualisingand drafting of the Public Hospitals Act in 1990’s, and the subsequent revision of the Act, and the later the Provincial Health Authorities Act. He was previously the Chairman of Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority (previously Mount Hagen General Hospital), in which position he has served for over 27 years, the inaugural President and co-founder of the National Heart Foundation of PNG, and remains a life member, and was previously a Board member of the National Health Board, representing the PNG Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Further, he has been involved with a number of community organisations, including being a Rotary Club member since 1983 holding various positions such as President, Treasurer, Director of Community Services, Director of Vocational Services, Director of Club Services and Sergeant-at Arms and a Council member of the National Volunteer service that manages PNG volunteers to the rural and remote areas throughout the country. He is also a Committee member of St John Ambulance and a Board member and Secretary of the Royal PNG Constabulary legacy.

He has also assisted the business community for over 40 years, holding positions in the Australia PNG Business Council and PNG Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as having been the past President of the Western Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
